You shouldn't miss these places in and around Bangalore! - Travel Guide (Karnataka)

Your first two days in Bangalore should be spent exploring the streets and experiencing what Bangalore has to offer. Afterward, visit Mysore and Coorg for two days each, and then end your trip at Gokarna!

Day 1: (Bangalore)


  1. Start your day early at the ISKCON temple. Don’t forget to take the yummy Prasad as take away.

  2. Next, visit the splendid Tipu’s Summer Palace, which has unique Indo-Islamic architecture.

  3. The Bull Temple could be your next quick stop.

  4. Stuff yourself with yummy vegetarian south Indian-style food at the iconic MTR’s Lalbagh road branch.

  5. Follow it up with a leisurely walk to the Lalbagh gardens and some street shopping at Brigade road.

Day 2: (Bangalore)

  1. The Science Museum is an entertaining way to begin your second day.

  2. Step back in time and drop by the Bangalore Palace - the former Maharaja’s private residence.

  3. Then visit the Bangalore Fort, where the foundations for the city were truly late.

  4. Finally, reach the Indira Gandhi musical fountain park in time for the spectacular show.

  5. Call it a day and take a peaceful long drive on the Bangalore-Mysore highway to reach Mysore!

Day 3: (Mysore)

  1. Start your day exploring Chamundi Hill.

  2. Check out the famous Mysore Zoo.

  3. Witness the magnificently lit Mysore Palace in all its glory after sundown.

  4. Do try out Chatori Street on Kalidasa road for some great vegetarian food.

Day 4: (Mysore)

  1. Begin your day at St. Philomina Church.

  2. Try out Moshpit Regala for fantastic lunch with some rock music.

  3. Head to the marvelous Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple and check out the artistic carvings.

  4. Visit Brindavan Garden close to sunset and enjoy the colorful life before heading to Coorg before nightfall. Driving through the hills of Coorg is a soothing and chilly experience!

Day 5: (Coorg)

  1. Start with the temple at the Tala Cauvery and take an early morning dip in the water if you’re up to it.

  2. Check out the Bhagamandala temple.

  3. Hit the Abby falls and then head to the Raja’s seat for a great sunset view.

Day 6: (Coorg)

  1. Spend your morning exploring the Madikeri Fort.

  2. Visit the Dubai Elephant Camp to learn all about elephants.

  3. Then pay your respects at the Golden temple and Namdroling Monastery.

Day 7: (Coorg)

  1. Drive down to the famous Nagarhole National Park and spend most of the day enjoying the nature and wildlife here.

  2. Check out the mesmerizing Iruppu Waterfall that is close by and then head straight to Gokarna. Enjoy this long drive by equipping yourself with some snacks.

Day 8: (Gokarna)

  1. You can explore Gokarna in just one day. Begin the early morning at Om Beach and indulge yourself in some early morning yoga here. There are several watersports activities that you can try as well.

  2. Then take a walk to the nearby Kudle Beach and enjoy the magnificent view.

  3. Visit the Mahabaleshwara Temple known for its Shiva Linga.

  4. Spend your evening walking around the small town of Gokarna and Shopping.


You've just completed your 8-day trip to Karnataka


A week-long Karnataka tour will not provide a complete understanding of the state's culture and heritage, but you will definitely return enlightened. The splendor of the place may require you to stay longer than prescribed if you want to enjoy it to the fullest.


Must Know Before You Go:

  1. A taxi should cost 2500 Rs. for a day in Bangalore city and around 1600 Rs. a day in the outskirts.

  2. You can expect a race for long traffic jams inside the cities and at tourist spots at peak hours.

  3. The best time to visit these places together is from October to April.

  4. The weather is unpredictable in Bangalore and its nearby localities.

  5. It takes a bit of traveling to get to Gokarna and Coorg.

  6. Tourist spots are usually packed with other tourists.

  7. Book your stay in advance to save up on additional seasonal charges.
